Silver. Cast, embossed, engraved, gold-gilded, nielloed.

Besamim is the plural of the Hebrew word for spice. It is customary at the conclusion of the sabbath to inhale a pleasant scent, so as to begin the week fragrantly. The spice is often contained in a decorative silver box, sometimes made in the shape of a medieval tower topped by a flag.

This spice container, known as Besamim, takes the shape of a stylized bluebell flower on a bent stem with a round base. The stem is wound with the embossed leaves and the base is decorated with a scroll pattern made by niello technique.
