First half of the 19th century
Silver. Cast, embossed, engraved, gold-gilded, filigree.
The Hanukkah lamp of this type named Baal Shem Tov (after the name of the Khasidism founder) is formed of silver by filigree technique. It is distinguished by the highest technical level and rich ornamentation: Entry in the Temple; cast statuettes of birds, griffins, eagles, cocks; a crown with silver bells and vessels for scented oils looking like tiny jugs.
