Silver. Forged, filigree, drawn wire.
Besamims in the shape of tiny lidded cups topped by a revolving flag as well as the box-shaped Besamims constitute a considerable part of the Museum collection. According to engraved brands, they were manufactured by the wellknown filigree masters of Moscow in 20-ths of the 19th century. Though manufactured as souvenirs, they were used by the Jews as ritual spice containers on Sabbath and in travelling rites.
